I was bored. I did all my dailies on Neopets. I checked all my mail accounts. I even finished typing my essay, which was due in 2 weeks. What to do now? It was too hot to go out that day. We were all out of Popsicles. Sitting in my room, the A/C is on, staring at the computer. What to do now? So I went searching on Google, trying to find a different game or at least something to do. I typed in "virtual world", hoping I would find another place like Neopets. After pages and pages and pages of clicking the little o's in the Goooooogle thing, I find Whyville.
Hmm, I think. Sounds interesting. I click on it, hoping it would be my next addicting thing. First I went in as a guest, and I saw that Whyville was AMAZING. I had to sign up. At that time, Whyville didn't have the thing on the front page where you can make your own face using those newbie parts. So when you signed up, you were just a blue blob! I started reading all of those articles about getting started in Whyville, trying to understand a bit. Wow, earning clams and looking good is gonna be hard!
First, I took my chat license test. After a couple times, I passed it. But they didn't give 50 clams like they do now. Then I went to every place on the destinations tab, looking around and trying to figure out this strange new world. When I went to the Grotto and tried talking to someone, hopefully trying to make a friend. Hi! My name's Mia! What's your's?... Ehh.. do I know you? o_o, was what she said. Okay, so I did go on a little too strong. No one was talking to me probably because I didn't have a face! So I went to Akbar's, and saw a lot of pretty stuff. But since I had virtually n0 clams, hair that costed 25 was horrifying! Uhh, I need clams. Now.
Just like all the other little newbies with no clams or face parts, I went to the cafeteria, hoping to scrounge up a few. The recycling game was hard at first, and I was only getting about 8 clams per room. But at least I was earning some, right? After a while, when I figured out where most of the trash went, I earned a bit more. When I was finally tired, I went to Akbar's to see if I had enough to buy my stuff. Gorgeous Avatar, here I come!
WHAT!? After all that, I only have 47 clams? I thought I was somewhere around 300! I decided that I should only buy hair and a head, since that was all I could afford. Before I clicked Buy Now, I just remembered! Maybe Grandma has some face parts now! I should go check one more time, and hopefully I'll get lucky. Unlike the other previous attempts.
I went over to Grandma's, and clicked on her little face parts table. And how happy I was when I saw that she did have some parts! A Harvey head, Blonde Wave hair, a nose, and a barrette! Perfect, now all I need is a shirt!
I went over to Pick your Nose, and arranged my face for the first time. I still looked weird, and I still needed eyes, lips, and a shirt. But I was getting there!
I went over to Akbar's, proudly deleting all the hair and heads in my cart. I bought this green shirt for just 15 clams, little pink lips for 5 clams, and these purple eyes for another 15 clams! Wow, when I put all these on, I'll look great! I returned to Pick Your Nose, and put all my stuff on. Uhh...not as pretty as I thought. But at least I have a face!

I went over to the Grotto again, hoping that my new look would get me some friends now! After talking to a few people, and making a few friends, I heard my mom calling me for dinner. Whyville is really cool, and tomorrow, I can't wait to get more clams, and maybe buy that hair I want!
And from that day on, I was addicted to Whyville. :D
